Thank you for your interest in a career at Porter Medical Center. Our application platform, Workday, will be down for maintenance starting Friday June 11 at noon, and will be available again Monday, June 14 at 7am.
The team at Porter Medical Center has been providing essential care to Addison County since 1925. We are neighbors helping our neighbors, deeply integrated with the community. Porter offers the best of both worlds: a team small enough that we'll know your name (and your dog's name!), but also part of the UVM Health Network, giving us broad access to resources. The staff at Porter enjoy comprehensive benefits including tuition advance and discounts to local gyms. Our leaders have a deep-rooted belief in career progression, allowing many of our entry-level employees to advance as far as their ambition allows.
"I have always wanted to be a nurse. I loved the idea of working in a small hospital so that I could deliver great care to the patients in my own community with a personal touch. It has been wonderful to have the opportunity to create connections with patients and help work through vulnerable times in their lives." Erica Bedell, RN – Unit Nurse Manager, Med/Surg
After graduating from the University of Vermont in 1987, Erica joined Porter Medical Center as a nurse in Med/Surg. Over time, she accepted responsibilities as Charge Nurse and continued building her skills. Erica assumed the Unit Nurse Supervisor role in 2014 and was promoted to Unit Nurse Manager five years later. As manager, Erica shows keen interest in the patient experience on her unit and in the professional growth of her team.
